Many of the patients here at Academy Park Dental Assoc. seek out Dr. Cathy Fermelia for treatment of cavities. Quite a few of our patients suspect they have cavities before their consultation, but in some instances, patients are surprised to learn they have cavities. This is understandable. It can be tricky to tell sometimes whether or not a cavity has developed. Here is a brief overview of common cavity symptoms:

Aching Teeth

A tooth that has been causing pain for some time and is accompanied with sharp bursts of pain and a dull ache is a good indication that it might be a cavity. If this describes your symptoms, you should schedule an appointment with Dr. Cathy Fermelia. Such cavities can develop when it has been a long time since your last dental cleaning. These cases might be a fairly new cavity and a filling could be used as treatment, but only if you come in soon.

Pain while Eating

If you have a tooth that has been giving you pain while biting or chewing, you may have a cavity. This type of cavity has recently forming and is small. If it is left untreated, it will grow, become more painful, and cause more damage to your tooth. Keep that from happening! Protect your tooth by calling to schedule an appointment with your dentist.
